Looker Studio Fix For Title Case Landing Page Issue In GA4

Landing page values in GA4 and Google Looker Studio can appear ok on the surface but actually when you dig into the detail, they can be quite frustrating.

Take this for example:

This maybe looks ok on the surface (in a less exaggerated example)… but when someone asks you “How did our Black Friday” page convert this year you’re probably going to be like…

To fix this in Google Looker Studio, all you need to do is:

1. Go to your GA4 data source and click edit:

2. Add a field (calculated field):

3. Give your new field a name:

4. Then in the formula section enter:

Lower(Landing Page)

It should look something like this:

5. Save this new field:

And use the new landing page you just created in your dimensions (instead of the default dimension).

Now all of your landing pages that differ because of title case will be all converted into lower case. Meaning that in the original example, you would only see 1 Black Friday page in your Google Looker Report the “/black-friday” one (instead of 7).
